apt-get's journal

I was stuck in some kind of slightly cyberpunk-looking interior market (think Kowloon Walled City). Went in an alley and saw a small shop on my right. There was a bored girl next to a cathodic TV, which was playing low-res images of some slav guy near what looked like a radioactive lake. I asked if I could play, to which she looked at me for a few seconds, frowned, then let me sit next to her on a straw rope stool and gave me a controller (or was it a keyboard? Can't remember). After that, I was immersed in the game.

It was a mix between a S.T.A.L.K.E.R-inspired setting and a school setting. The campus itself was really big, and you had to kill deformed monsters in the morning before studying in the evening. I can't remember how the whole thing went down clearly, but I do recall my roommate getting himself killed on the first day, along with other random bits like having to steal from the school cafeteria at first in order to eat. I got pretty far in the game itself, gaining a few co-op friends along the way, but died due to an unlucky shot hitting my head. I tried starting another game after that, but got mauled by one of the zombie-like things after a few minutes.

I decided to stop, and closed the game window on my computer (the scene itself now took place in my bedroom), and decided to check IRC, where I saw that someone on my "Friends List" was still playing. When I checked out my PM logs with him, it turned out to be a pretty close (imaginary) friend that I talked to every day. I joined anonymously one of the channels where he was active, and we started discussing with another person the feasibility of creating an IRC voice chat system that could be used independently or integrated into other applications. After that, we considered whether it could be optimized based on the weather in south Sweden.

I checked out an imageboard and saw people discussing the game, but woke up right as I was considering writing about my own in-game experience.

I can't for the life of me remember the name of the game, even though it was all I had in mind for 20 minutes after waking up. It feels like it was something close to "Marsh'ssacre" or "Mergh'ssacre", but not exactly... and what the hell was up with that Sweden thing?
