Been a while, huh.

Porter Robinson's Secret Sky online festival was yesterday, and what a show it's been. I've already talked or mentioned Hakushi Hasegawa before on this blog, but I'd never expected he would be such a talented live performer. It takes some raw skill to play jazz on a keyboard and sing with breakcore in the background. Porter and Lil Texas' sets were also magical, and I've discovered quite a few talented DJs.

Falling asleep with the music still playing in my mind, I felt pretty depressed. Could I ever attain the heights they have reached? Even if I acquired the technical skills required, I still lack the ideas and creativity that give a soul to their works.

Maybe this is why I'm attracted to DJing.
Maybe it's because I'm more suited to curating than creating.

These thoughts struck a note deep within me and brought me on the edge of tears.

I felt better after waking up.

Today's tune: CHERRYBOY FUNCTION - DISTOPIA (INTER-TECH), a groovy house track with a heckin' good bassline. The rest of the album has a more techno sound and wouldn't be out of place on the TREKKIE TRAX label.
