apt-get's journal

Well, it's been quite a long while since I've last written anything here.

These last two months have been a bit hectic. The summer vacation has coincided with a few important holidays, and my schedule was always packed one way or another with family gatherings. Despite that, the lack of responsibility and expectations has been quite relaxing, even if it's only for a short while.

I've picked up the pace on my 日本語 studies, and have also etched another attempt at going through SICP into my imaginary tally board. I've gone farther than I ever have before, which is probably a good thing. Lisp really does show its beauty once you start familiarizing yourself with metaprogramming concepts: even at the early stage I'm at right now, there's already a world of difference compared to the languages I've used so far.

Apart from that, I also went to Japan Expo in early July. Didn't grab as much loot this time around (a few doujins and artbooks, plus some keychains), but I've discovered how fun it is to go to a con along with someone. It's a wholly different experience compared to venturing into that den alone!

There's a lot I've wanted to talk about in this diary, but I hadn't found the motivation nor the inspiration to actually put down my thoughts on paper (keyboard?). Hopefully I will be able to find the right words in the coming days and weeks to do more than just blog away about what I've been doing day-to-day.
